Edith and the Bear
Edith and The Bear Official Trailer from hillary bradfield on Vimeo.
This semester i worked on a short movie project by Hillary Bradfield. It's a cute movie about a girl and her bear. It was a great privilege to work on this movie. I learned a lot about animating, movie production pipeline and working with a big group. It was a great experience. I animated a scene, cleaned up a couple, inked and colored.
The movie will be premiered at the end of the year showcase at San Jose State University on Wednesday 22nd starting at 9:30. Don't miss it!

spring semester animations ( & some drawings on the side!)
this semester I took a bit more than I chew. Now that my art classes finals are over I can breathe a little more than before. The first video is my final reel for my 3d animation class; this reel consists of the poses that we have to make each week for the class, then quick studies and then the animations. My second test is our traditional animation final. The test requirement is to make our characters sit down on a chair. Triple Threats is the group that i got assigned to; and they helped to push me to make my test better. It was really great to be a part of something that pushes you to be better.
this semester i am also helping my friend to make her short film project that became a class. I animated a scene, cleaned it up, ink it and color. I learned a lot this semester. my brain hurts a lot and sometimes i didn't sleep much, but it was a great semester for learning.
of course i miss painting a bit so i take tiny breaks to paint. I should've painted more in my spare time though.
onwards to summer!

speed paintings and schoolism
I attended a class today with Nathan Fowkes hosted by schoolism.
It was a great class that I was really glad I attended. He reiterated a lot of lessons that my teachers said before, but it was a great reminder of those principles. Unity and Variety, Color - Value and Temperature. Design and Clarity. Taking a break and re-learning these principles was so great. It made me want to draw again, it compelled me to draw, to paint. I wanted to learn how to paint speedily, learning colors, learning values.
I have a lot of animation to do, but I couldn't help but take an hour or two to paint some stuff.
here's a speed painting that i did with values. I added some color because i couldn't help it. I really love the rosy cheeks of the original picture and added some in my speed painting.
the colored original i worked on, and the black and white pictured comparison.
here's my sister's kitty pillow that i painted in around ~30minutes. i was painting really fast and just looking at colors and light. It was really fun to do. :)

taking a break was fun, but i haven to go back to animating. many many things due on tuesday.. can't wait till the end of the semester. I want to paint pleinair and sketch the summer away!

Rare Candy: Art Auction and Gallery
This project was something my friends Amy Kim and Peter Le did for fun. They invited 151 artist to do the original 151 pokemon and set up a gallery and an online auction for the art pieces. All proceeds go to a charity called canines for kidswith disability. This post is a little late because this auction is already over; but the gallery is still up! so you can check it out if you want to!
This project was really fun and it was really flattering to have a gallery opening with my work being a part of it and this was also my first time selling my work online or anywhere. It was a great experience. So glad I was a part of this experience.
