Gouache paintings

Second week of school! For my illustration class we are assigned a weekly word to create a piece exclusively using tradition media. The first painting is for the word "promise" and it was really fun to do! I wanted to do something that wasn't very obvious so after mulling over it on the weekend I made something reminiscent of a childhood promise. Definitely have to do better on staging and posture. The second painting is from the winter figure drawing marathon session that I attended over the break. Our last day is a painting class with Cameron Chun and we did this painting for around 6 hours. I think it's my second time using gouache for figure painting. It was really fun, but was quite a challenge too.

Bufallos and horses

School just started! There will be a lot of things going on this semester, I hope I can do well! Saw an episode of Fatal Attraction today and there's a story featured in it about a man and his buffalo that he lets inside of his house. There are also other stories about people who have obsessions with animals and got killed by them. Speaking of farm animals, it's almost Chinese New Years! This year will be the year of the horse!

death and revival

study of a shot from Spike Jonze's "Her"

So, my old dell laptop of 4 years died last week, and a couple of days ago I bought a new laptop with the help of my dear friend Mr. Edric Yamamoto. It's a good thing he helped me because I have no clue at all about technology. While this computer is not as big as the other one it's definitely stronger and more capable of things than my old one did. It's quite amazing how much technology advances in 4 years.

Also, if you haven't watched "Her", go watch it!

eyvind earle and anders zorn

We went to eyvind earle gallery today and saw his amazing, decorative - yet very believable and natural paintings. Afterwards we went around and sketched around carmel.
Saw this shop front today the colors were so pretty.
Another painting at the bottom. Trying to just make it simple since I didnt have much time.

Studies of anders zorn paintings. His watercolors are so amazing. Unbelievably photographic like and simple solutions for complex objects.
Also, some sketches from today. I dont do much fanart but I really enjoy Sherlock :-) trying to simplify and caricature the character.

And kitty!
