SP... 12 ! Window

Painting #12 ~!

I had a difficult time getting the colors right again... and later i checked and the values are off. Did this in about 50 minutes. getting shapes are tough.. i stopped sketching and just tried to eyeball things this time. hereee it is!

the picture on the left is the original, the one on the right is my painting. i think i got caught  up on the details again. need to simplifyyyy.

also fun day today. i found out just how stubborn my teeth is. it wont let go of my jaw.. well i'll let the oral surgeon do her thing on monday. for now i'll have a loose wisdom tooth in my mouth. ouch. :(

but that means more time to paint!! or.. draw! yay for positivity!

SP 11 : Lighthouse!

here's my paaainting for today :) pretty fun. tried to keep things simple and focus on shapes, value and color more. There are several things i dont like about it.. in particular i was having difficulty with making the clouds softer and the ... texture.. of the weed / plants on the foreground. I need to work on the lighthouse some more though.. i didn't spend too much time on it.. :(

it was fun though, took about.. 30-45 minutes.. still have to remember to time myself.. >_<

can't wait for #12!!!

SP 10 : beachy day

So i didn't properly explain why i did these speedpaintings. Or did i..? Well anyways, around the middle of the spring semester of the last school year Goro Fujita came to SJSU and did a lecture and demo of speed painting on photoshop. It was so inspiring that a bunch of us SHM-ers made up a blog and started speed painting with photoshop everyday. A few of us like Jonathan Apilado and Jonathan Chu are one of the ones to start right when that lecture ended and they're soo far ahead of where I am it's amazing..

That's the reason I bought a tablet, I really dont know why I couldn't bring myself to buy it earlier. It really has been the best purchase of the year. hahaha.. i feel like i'm learning a lot and being more disciplined because of it. I guess there's nothing like new equipment to re-motivate you huh?

I started to work on copying the sample pictures Goro sent to the SHM group from a long time ago. Awesome ppl from sjsu has also followed suit. Check them out!!

First picture that i decide to do is a beach picture! ironic cause i was supposed to go to the beach today but it didn't really happen. hahhaa. anywayss enough of my babbling.

anddd here's what i did in about.. 40+ minutes.. gotta start keeping track of my time better!

feels like some values are still not correct yet.. but it was really fun. especially doing the sky! :) it's really fun using so many saturated colors!

can't wait for tomorrow! :)

SP 8 & 9 : CUP

Missed a day for 4th of July yesterday... Even though it's late.. happy 4th of july!! :D
in the festivities i failed to do a speed painting, so that's why I am doing 2 today to make it up!

I think i need to do some landscape pictures next time, and maybe work from imagination.. but for now I'll try to fine tune colors and values first. small goals. hahaha

painted a cup this time and it feels like im slightly getting better at judging values. slightly..

Also, unrelated event but John Clapp critiqued my work today. Inspiring to say the least, made me want to do more and more for my drawings. Thank you John Clapp!! xD

SP 7 : Colored Oranges

Second part of the painting that i did for training. I think painting it in black and white did help out making my colors more.. correct.. ish xD

I was talking to my buddy Chris Sanchez (go check him out!) about painting.. and he suggested to me to train my eyes.. for VALUESS yeeee~ so heres some oranges i took a picture of..

twass a fun 45 minutes. :) oh man. needa do moreee of these xD he suggested i'll do it in color next.. so that's what i will do!! :D can't wait for tomorrow!!

SP 4 & 5 : Around the House

Went home today after work and painted 2 photos in photoshop, one to make up for yesterday and one for today! yay :) it was really fun, and after the last painting, i decided to do something much much simpler and i think i learnt a lot from these 2 photos

the colors are still not quite right yet.. and the shapes aren't quite right either.. but i like how it came out! i'm glad it looks 3 dimensional hahaha!
